About the Illustrator of The Little Elephant with the Big Earache

Elaine Garvin was the illustrator of more than 30 books for young readers, among them a Little Bear series and a series of craft books for children. This was her first book of elephants. She grew up in Syracuse, NY, where she attended the College of Visual & Performing Arts at Syracuse University. Ms. Garvin resided in Taunton, MA, with her constant feline companion, Missy. She had two granddaughters who were her inspiration for many of her characters.
Sadly, Elaine died during the summer of 2004. We are grateful to have had the privilege and pleasure of working with her and consider her art a compelling and enduring legacy.
