The Hippocratic Press, located in Concord, Massachusetts, is a publisher of children's books on health topics important to children. Each book is 32 pages with a hard cover and full color. Each has animal characters who get (and get over) common illnesses with the help of a kind pediatrician hippopotamus named Dr. Hippocrates. His patients affectionately call him “Dr. Hippo.”
The first four stories are about: an elephant with an earache, a polar bear with a cold, a frog with a fever of 104°, and a giraffe with a sore throat. Each picture book also includes a separate Parent Guide written in question/answer format. The Parent Guide answers common questions about children's health issues and offers parents advice about how to comfort children at home and when to call the doctor.
